Germany: Rail disruptions in northern Germany September 18

Event

A strong storm moved through northern Germany on the night (local time) of Tuesday, September 17, and into Wednesday, September 18, causing disruptions to regional and long-distance train services. Deutsche Bahn service between Hanover, Bremen, and Hamburg was delayed or canceled after trees and debris were blown across tracks on Tuesday. In some areas, extra Intercity Express (ICE) trains or buses were brought in to accommodate stranded passengers. Deutsche Bahn has warned that service along the Hanover-Bremen and Hanover-Hamburg routes will continue to experience service disruptions through Wednesday.
