President Nicolas Maduro has ordered for increased security measures at the Venezuela-Colombia border as of Tuesday, September 3, due to neighboring Colombia's planned military exercises. The exercises are planned from Tuesday, September 10, through Sunday, September 29. Observed as a threat, the exercises have prompted a heightened alert for armed forces and military units in the area. A heightened security presence is to be expected at and near the Venezuela-Colombia border.
