Informational

Event

Heavy rain, which has hit the capital Kinshasa on Friday, October 4, has killed three people, following the collapse of a wall in the Kalumu district.

Heavy rains are expected to continue over the coming days. Associated disruptions, including transportation disruptions, are likely in affected areas. Power outages are also possible.

Advice

Individuals in Kinshasa are advised to monitor local weather reports, avoid areas directly affected by flooding, confirm road conditions and flight reservations before setting out, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities. Avoid walking or driving through floodwaters; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
