Germany: Environmental group plans one week shut down and associated protests in Berlin October 7-14
Environmental group calls for several protests in London between October 7-14; heightened security presence and localized disruptions expected

The Extinction Rebellion (XR) environmental group has called for several protests and associated shut downs in Berlin from Monday, October 7, through Monday, October 14. On Monday, protesters plan to gather at Postdamer Platz and are expected to block several streets in Berlin as of 10:00 (local time). On Wednesday, October 9, activists will gather at Marshall Bridge starting from 09:00. At 16:00, protesters will meet on the Kurfürstendamm avenue for a picnic and musical activities. Although the exact location of the event was not immediately available, the entire avenue is likely to be shut down. An associated event for outdoor meditation is planned at 12:00 outside the Reichstag.
Related protests and associated roadblocks are expected across the city during the abovementionned dates. A heightened security presence and significant transport and business disruptions are expected around all protest sites.
Context
The Extinction Rebellion environmental group has organized disruptive protests around the world since November 2018 to demand increased action to address climate change issues. XR is planning a series of international protests starting the week of Monday, October 7.
