Malaysia: Water rationing extended in several cities across Johor state October 8

Event

Johor state is currently experiencing significant water shortages since Monday, September 2, due to a significant fall of water levels in eight of the state's major dam reservoirs. Water rationing is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, October 8, impacting 100,000 people across the cities of Kota Tinggi and Penggerang. Around 25,000 people in Mersing will also be affected at a later date, which has not yet been fixed. In Simpang Rengam, water rationing has been in place since September 2, affecting 150,000 residents, and has been extended through Thursday, October 31.

Individuals in the affected areas are advised to conserve water, stock up on bottled water, keep abreast of the situation via local media outlets, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities (e.g. water rationing measures).
