Peru: Miners block roads in the Yauli province November 13

Miners in protest have closed the Central Highway in the Morococha district (Yauli province) on Wednesday, November 13, to denounce recent acquisition that will cut jobs. An estimated 100 miners participated in the action, closing the road from 09:00 to 12:00 (local time) and again from 14:00 to 17:00. The road was also closed overnight and is expected to be blocked again on Thursday, November 14.

Similar roadblocks may persist for several days. Associated transportation disruptions are expected to continue.
