Around 20 unidentified gunmen attacked a Tajik security checkpoint along the border with Uzbekistan on the night (local time) of Tuesday, November 5. According to security officials, the incident occurred approximately 50 km (30 mi) southwest of the capital Dushanbe. At least 15 gunmen were killed in the engagement and another five were detained. Media sources reported that two guards also died in the fighting. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
