Security tightened along the border with Myanmar in Sangkhla Buri district November 28; avoid the area

As of Friday, November 29, heightened security measures have been implemented at the Three Pagodas border crossing, located along the Thailand-Myanmar border (Sangkhla Buri district; Kanchanaburi) after clashes erupted between Myanmar troops and Mon fighters in Ban Bo Yeepun village (Myanmar) on Wednesday, November 27. As of Friday, more than 700 people have reportedly fled to Thailand.
Border crossing have been restricted for Thai citizens, and border trade and vehicle crossings have been suspended on Soi Kaset 1. Business disruptions have also been reported. Authorities have advised foreign travelers to avoid the area.
Further transportation and business disruption are expected in the coming hours and days.
