Malaysia: Flooding expected in Johor December 25-27

Event

According to authorities, floods are expected to hit Johor between Wednesday, December 25, and Friday, December 27, due to high tides and forecast heavy rain. Around 3000 police and emergency personnel have been deployed across the state to conduct relief missions.

A heightened security presence, power outages, and transportation and business disruptions are likely in areas forecast to be affected by flooding over the coming days.

Individuals in Johor are advised to monitor local weather reports, avoid areas directly affected by flooding and landslides, confirm road conditions, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities. Avoid walking or driving through floodwaters; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
