Protests and roadblocks have been reported on Saint Martin on Saturday, December 14, as residents denounce the implementation of Natural Risk Prevention Plan (PPRN) laws that would allegedly result in the loss of some residents' homes. Vehicles have reportedly been set on fire, among other protest actions, with gendarmes deployed to disperse protest activity.

The US Embassy in Bridgetown (Barbados) has claimed that roads connecting French Saint Martin (Saint-Martin) and Dutch Saint Martin (Sint Maarten) may be impassable due to demonstrations and roadblocks. Lingering disruptions to transportation are to be expected if similar demonstrations continue over the coming days.
