A landslide killed at least ten people in Gamo (Southern Nations, Nationalities, and People's Region) on Thursday, May 28. Several homes were also destroyed in the landslide.
The Ethiopian National Meteorological Agency warned as of Monday, May 25, that heavy rainfall is likely to occur in parts of eastern, southern, southeastern, and southwestern Ethiopia through until at least June 30.
Further heavy rainfall is possible in the region over the coming weeks, which may cause additional flooding, consequent material damages, and disruptions to transportation and business in affected areas.

According to the National Meteorology Agency's mid-season seasonal rainfall weather forecast, the seasonal rainfall is expected to peak in May in most seasonal rainfall-dependent areas of the country, including eastern, southern, southeastern, and southwestern Ethiopia.

Avoid walking or driving through floodwaters; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
