Russia: Hostage situation reported in Moscow May 23

An armed individual has taken six hostages at Alfa-Bank branch bank located on Zemlyanoy Val Street in Moscow on Saturday, May 23. Police have cordoned off a large area around the bank, and significant traffic disruption has been reported in the area. The incident is ongoing as of 14:45 (local time), as police officers are carrying out negotiations with the hostage-taker.

A heightened security presence and further transportation disruptions should be expected in the coming several hours.
