According to the Saudi Press Agency the Royal Saudi Air Defence intercepted a ballistic missile launched towards the city of Najran (Najran province) on Saturday, June 13. Reportedly, the missile was fired from the Yemeni city of Sa'dah (Sa'dah province). Some residents were injured after fragments from the destroyed missile hit them.

Further cross-border attacks are possible over the near term.

Context

Yemen is engaged in a complex and deadly conflict, ongoing since Houthi rebels entered a civil war with the Yemeni government, supported by a Saudi-led coalition, in 2015.
