Lebanon: Emerging reports of clashes in Kfarchouba area along border with Israel July 27

Emerging reports indicate that Israel Defense Force (IDF) artillery fire hit the Kfarchouba area of the Hasbaya district on Monday, July 27, following clashes with suspected Hezbollah militants on the border. An IDF patrol is reported to have ambushed several suspected Hezbollah militants in the Sheba'a Farms area of the Golan Heights who were suspected of attempting to cross the border in order to attack an IDF outpost with an anti-tank guided missile (ATGM). The incident reportedly sparked clashes in the area, including the cross-border artillery strike, although it is currently unclear whether the alleged militants were able to fire an ATGM at a passing IDF vehicle or were engaged as they attempted to infiltrate the border.

Further clashes and security operations are likely along the border in the near term.
