Anti-government nationwide protests are scheduled to take place in Lilongwe and across other urban areas of Malawi on Monday, July 13. The demonstrations have been organized by the Youth for Change group in addition to others and have been called for to demand that President Lazarus Chakwera rescinds his previous decision to appoint a new 31-member cabinet.
In Lilongwe, a demonstration is scheduled to occur in the vicinity of Chakwera's private residence in the Area Six neighborhoods.
Further protests are possible in the near term.
