According to the Detroit Police Department, officers were in the area of West McNichols Rd and San Juan Drive earlier in the day searching for a person involved in a Fourth of July shooting that left three dead and five others injured. When officers approached a suspect, they were reportedly shot at and returned fire, killing the individual.
