A Chinese national was killed in an attack on the Carrilu mine in Lualaba province on Tuesday, August 11, after seven attackers attempted to raid the camp. A Congolese worker was also injured in the attack. Workers staying at the camp reportedly managed to repel the attackers.

Further attacks are possible in the region over the near term, and a heightened security presence is to be anticipated in the vicinity of the mine in the near term.
