France: Heavy flooding affects Normandy August 12

Adverse weather in parts of Normandy caused disruption to overland travel on Wednesday, August 12. The departments particularly affected include Orne, Calvados, and Seine-Maritime. Reportedly, firefighters carried out 450 rescue operations across Normandy due to flooding caused by thunderstorms. Of the significantly affected departments, Calvados was reportedly most affected, with 262 rescue operations conducted. The Caen train station (Calvados) was blocked in the evening of Wednesday, and several other areas were also restricted. As of Thursday, August 13, a thunderstorm warning remains in place for several areas of Normandy, which can be viewed here.
