One killed, two arrested in anti-terrorism operation in Akkar district on August 24; further security operations possible in near term

Lebanese security forces on Monday, August 24, killed one individual and arrested two others in an anti-terrorism raid on a house in Akkar district. Local sources reported that the individual was killed after failing to drop a weapon. The raid was carried out after the suspects, three Syrian nationals, participated in killing three men on Saturday, August 22, in the town of Kaftoun in the Koura district. Multiple weapons and explosive material were seized following the operation.
