Informational

Event

Authorities have announced that the National Day Parade will take place on Sunday, August 9. The Singaporean government declared the Parade an enhanced security special event, and strict security measures will be imposed. Police announced that areas in the vicinity of the Padang and The Star Vista will be "special event areas" and will therefore be subject to stricter restrictions. These measures will be in place between 05:00 and 14:00 (local time) around Padang and between 15:00 and 23:59 at The Star Vista on Sunday. Security forces will conduct increased searches on vehicles and members of the public in these areas during this period. Police also announced that streets in the vicinity of Padang would close between 21:00 on Saturday, August 8, and 14:00 on Sunday, while roads near The Star Vista will close between 07:00 and 23:59 on Sunday. Police have also avoided granting permits to most indoor and outdoor public assemblies within the special event areas due to the ongoing coronavirus disease (COIVID-19) pandemic.

Localized disruptions to transportation as a result of road closures and increased security are likely throughout Sunday.
