Emerging reports indicate that a cargo aircraft crashed in the Hai Referendum area of Juba on the morning of Saturday, August 22. The Southwest Aviation aircraft, an An-26 operating a charter flight to Aweil, is reported to have crashed shortly after taking off from Juba International Airport (JUB) at around 09:00 (local time). Local media sources have reported that there have been casualties from the incident, but the number of people killed and injured is currently unclear.
