Istanbul police on Tuesday, August 25, arrested an individual suspected of plotting an attack in the city. The arrest followed an early morning raid on a hotel in the Küçükçekmece district of Istanbul. The suspected terrorist was detained after authorities determined that he arrived in Istanbul from the southeastern province of Gaziantep to explore the Beyoğlu district, mainly Taksim Square, to make preparations for an attack. Multiple weapons and ammunition were seized following the raid.
