Flooding killed three people in Ouagadougou and Kaya (Centre-Nord region) on Saturday, September 5, following heavy rains. In Ouagadougou, a pregnant woman was killed in Tanghin district whilst flooding was reported in the Kilwin, Larlé, Nemnin, Rimkiéta, and Yamtenga areas, where property has also been damaged. Two fatalities also occurred in Sector 2 of Kaya, where a number of houses were destroyed without further casualties.
Further rainfall is expected over the near term. Disruption to transportation, business, and utilities is likely.
