Lebanese security forces killed at least two militants in the Wadi Khaled area (Akkar district) in a shootout on Saturday, September 26, during a raid on a hideout of suspected Islamic State militants. Three members of the security forces were also reportedly injured in the fighting in which the militants fired rocket-propelled grenades, prompting the army to cordon off the area. Local sources report that the group included individuals liked to the militant Khaled al-Talawi, who was killed by security forces earlier in the month.

A heightened security presence is expected in the area over the coming days following the incident.

Those in the Wadi Khaled area are advised to monitor developments, anticipate disruption from ongoing security operations, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
