Russia: Local elections scheduled for September 13

Local elections have been scheduled to take place on Sunday, September 13, across the country. Political gatherings and demonstrations leading up to and following the election are likely across urban centers. Additionally, a new voting method has been implemented, which may lead to further protests.

Public gatherings have been prohibited in line with coronavirus disease (COVID-19) restrictions. However, some political rallies and demonstrations are expected in some areas, with a heightened security presence likely at all demonstration sites.
