Burkina Faso: Gunmen kill dozens in Centre-Nord region on October 4

Event

Unidentified gunmen killed at least 25 people and wounded a number of others during an attack near the city of Pissila in the Centre-Nord region on the night of Sunday, October 4. Assailants targeted those returning to the city, separating the men and women and then executing the former. Security forces have since been deployed to the area following the attack. No group has currently claimed responsibility for the incident.

Further attacks are possible in the region over the near term.
