Severe wildfires burned across Lebanon for a second consecutive day on Saturday, October 10, amid high temperatures and strong winds. The army deployed helicopters to tackle a number of fires, including ones in Dier El Harf and Ras el-Metn in Baabda district, Bater in Chouf district, and Bzal in Akkar district. Civil defense teams were dispatched to tackle other fires, including one in Koura district. Several fires broke out on Friday, October 9, amid hot, windy, and dry conditions, with some threatening residential areas and prompting evacuations.

Further spread of the fires is possible in the near term. An emergency response presence and localized transportation disruptions, namely road closures, should be anticipated in the affected areas.
