Madagascar: Protest scheduled in Antananarivo for October 5

A demonstration is scheduled to take place in Antananarivo on Monday, October 5. The protest is scheduled to take place in front of the Ministry of Communication and Culture. The reason for the protest is currently unclear, however, recent demonstrations in the area have been linked to the opposition boycott of the December 11 senate elections.

Additional associated protests are possible in the near term. Localized disruptions and a heightened security presence are anticipated in the vicinity of the rally.
