Protesters gathered in Philadelphia during the evening of Monday, October 26, following reports of an officer-involved fatal shooting of a black man in West Philadelphia. A group of some 50 protesters marched eastbound on Sansom Street from 21:30 (local time) and by 23:00 a group of 100 people had gathered on 53rd and Pine streets to denounce the police. Law enforcement blocked off the area to prevent the progress of the protesters, and demonstrators began to throw objects at police after they were pushed back. At least one police vehicle has been set alight and a number of shops have been damaged.

Further protests and unrest are likely in the area in the near term.
