Activists plan to protest outside Parliament in Rabat Feb. 18, against Algerian TV channel Echorouk’s alleged insult of King Mohammed VI. Echorouk had broadcast a satirical program Feb. 13, which depicted King Mohammed VI as a puppet and interviewed him about controversial topics. Dozens to a hundred individuals could take part in the demonstration.

Authorities will likely deploy increased security to monitor the event. Localized transport disruptions are possible near Parliament Feb. 18. Clashes between police and demonstrators could occur; authorities may try to break up the protest to enforce COVID-19 gathering restrictions.
