Venezuela: Health workers to protest in Caracas Feb. 10

Health workers affiliated with the Caracas Clinic and Hospital Workers Union (Sindicato de Trabajadores de Clinicas y Hospitales de Caracas) plan to march from the Dr. J. M. de los Rios Children's Hospital in the capital starting at 0900 Feb. 10. The action is over workers' wage claims. The exact march route has not been announced and the destination point is unclear. Hundreds of health workers could join the action.

Police will probably deploy to monitor the protest. The event will likely remain largely peaceful; however, isolated skirmishes are possible if security forces attempt to disperse the gathering. Localized traffic disruptions are likely.

Avoid the protest. If violence breaks out, leave the area immediately. Allow additional time to reach nearby destinations in central Caracas as the demonstration is taking place.
