Health care workers threaten to strike at Hospital Center French Polynesia in Papeete from 00:01 April 1. Protests possible.

Informational

Event

Unionized health care workers have threatened to strike at Hospital Center French Polynesia (CHPF, Ta'aone Hospital) and its associated facilities from 00:01 April 1 over various labor grievances. Discussions with management are ongoing as of March 31. Several unions are supporting the labor action, and participation is likely to be high. Unless averted, the strike could lead to nonemergency medical service disruptions at CHPF and associated facilities. Increased demand is possible for alternative service providers.

Workers could hold demonstrations near CHPF and related health centers during the strike. Rallies cannot be ruled out at government buildings. If they occur, most protests will remain small. However, localized transport disruptions are possible if larger gatherings arise.

Advice

Confirm appointments at CHPF and related medical facilities. Plan for medical service delays for non-urgent care. Heed the instructions of local security personnel.
