A group of activists is continuing to hold 10 oil workers hostage as of March 15 after having seized the Morona Station of the North Peru Pipeline during a protest three days earlier. The captives include four employees of state-owned oil company Petroperu and six contractors. The activists holding the hostages are demanding greater government expenditures in the area and have threatened to harm the workers and damage the oil infrastructure if police make any rescue attempt. Security forces are likely to deploy to the area.
