Timor-Leste: Authorities extend restrictions in Dili through 23:59 April 2 /update 1
Timor-Leste extends entry and exit and other rules in Dili through 23:59 April 2 due to COVID-19. Transport, business disruptions likely.
Event
Authorities have extended restrictions, including entry and exit rules, in Dili through 23:59 April 2 due to COVID-19 concerns. Residents must stay at home, except for urgent medical assistance, purchasing essential goods and services, or traveling to work for employees that must be onsite. All gatherings, including religious services, are banned.
Officials have restricted almost all travel, including air and maritime transport, from the city. Exceptions are possible for safety, public health, or humanitarian reasons. Increased security is likely to enforce restrictions; police could erect checkpoints on main entry points to and from the capital. People who are allowed to enter or leave Dili must travel through checkpoints that operate 06:00-16:00 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. It is unclear whether the government provides exemptions for people who wish to travel in and out of Dili outside the checkpoints' operating hours. Significant business disruptions are likely due to the transport restrictions.
Advice
Heed the instructions of authorities. Avoid all nonessential operations. Confirm transport reservations. Remain cooperative if questioned by law enforcement officers.
