Additional protests are likely at and around Echo Park Lake in Los Angeles, California, March 25-26, in opposition to city authorities' move to close the park and remove an encampment of homeless residents currently located on the property. Dozens of demonstrators clashed with police as officials restricted access to the park late March 24. Police plan to remove anyone remaining on the premises March 25. Hundreds of activists will probably demonstrate at the location; a large police deployment is likely. Echo Park Lake is located near the intersection of Hollywood Freeway and North Alvarado Street in the Echo Park neighborhood.
Localized transport disruptions are likely, as are clashes with police, particularly as officers move to clear the park on May 25.
