Authorities are continuing their investigation into a stabbing attack that took place in central Tirana during the afternoon of April 19. An armed assailant reportedly targeted people at the Dine Hoxha Mosque on Kavaja Street, injuring five people. Although the perpetrator has been apprehended, authorities have as yet not determined the motive behind the attack. Police have indicated, however, that the suspect has a prior criminal record. While there is no longer any immediate threat to the public, heightened security is possible in Tirana until authorities complete their investigation.
