Chad: COVID-19-related measures remain largely unchanged in Chad as of April 29 /update 35
Limited domestic COVID-19 restrictions remain in force in Chad as of April 29; state of health emergency in place through mid-September.
Event
As of April 29, COVID-19-related restrictions in effect in Chad remain largely unchanged by comparison with those that were in place during mid-March. Restrictions on large gatherings remain in place. Facemasks are mandatory. A state of health emergency is in force through at least Sept. 11.
International travelers arriving in Chad must produce a negative result from a COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test taken no more than 72 hours prior to entering the country. Travelers must also surrender their passports and remain in self-isolation for seven days, with an additional test being performed on the seventh day in isolation. Travelers in Chad for fewer than seven days do not need to quarantine. Some international travelers, including those from the UK, may face bans due to variants of the disease existing in their country of departure. Cargo and emergency flights remain unaffected. International land borders are closed to passenger traffic.
Failure to comply with directives will result in disciplinary action, including fines and possible incarceration. Authorities could impose additional restrictions based on disease activity in the coming days and weeks.
