Authorities are extending restrictions in Baucau and Viqueque municipalities in eastern Timor-Leste through 23:59 April 2 due to continued COVID-19 concerns. Officials will continue to require residents to stay at home, except for urgent medical assistance, purchasing essential goods and services, or traveling to work for employees that must be onsite. All gatherings, including religious services, will likely still be banned.

Almost all travel, including air and maritime transport, from and between the municipalities, will remain restricted. Exceptions are likely in place for safety, public health, or humanitarian reasons. Officials will probably increase security measures to enforce restrictions; police could erect checkpoints on main entry points to and from the localities. Local authorities may extend or amend the measures, depending on the local situation and COVID-19 activity. Significant business disruptions are likely due to transport restrictions.
