Informational

Event

Opposing activist groups plan to demonstrate in several locations across the US April 11. Numerous far-right organizations will rally starting at 13:00 in major cities, including Chicago, Illinois; Huntington Beach and Sacramento, California; New York, New York; Denver, Colorado; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Asheville, North Carolina; Orlando, Florida; Atlanta, Georgia; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Norfolk, Virginia. Rival organizations are organizing counterprotests nearby.

Organizers have as yet refrained from publicly releasing information on the specific locations of most of the gatherings and will probably make no such announcement until early April 11. Nevertheless, groups sponsoring the demonstrations in Denver and Orlando have stated that the events in these two cities will take place outside the Colorado State Capitol and at Lake Eola, respectively. Participation will probably vary significantly by location; however, most of the gatherings are unlikely to draw large crowds.

Authorities will almost certainly deploy tight security near each of the rally locations as a precaution. Clashes between activists from opposing groups are possible, particularly at larger events. Localized transport disruptions could occur near protest venues.

Advice

Avoid all protests as a standard security precaution. Heed the instructions of authorities. Exit the area at the first sign of any security disturbance. Allow extra time to reach destinations near demonstration locations.
