Demonstrations by students were reported at the University of Maninday in Toliara, June 16 and at the University of Fianarantsoa in Fianarantsoa June 17. In Fianarantsoa, demonstrations reportedly escalated after security forces arrested several student leaders. Casualties were reported. Protests are linked to the lack of payment of bursaries and scholarships.
