Disruptive protests have been reported in Lilongwe's Area 36 (Falls Estate), early June 10. The unrest was reportedly sparked by a ban on motorcycle taxis known locally as Kabaza. There have been reports of confrontations between protesters and police, and attacks on motorists in and near the M1 road route. There have been no reports of casualties.

Heightened security is likely in the impacted area through June 10. Additional confrontations and road travel disruptions are also likely. Protests may spread to other areas of the city in the coming hours and days.
