Mozambique: Authorities tighten nationwide COVID-19 measures through July 26 /update 16
Authorities in Mozambique tighten COVID-19 measures until at least July 26; curfew hours extended.
Event
Authorities have extended and revised nationwide COVID-19 measures through July 26. The nationwide curfew remains in effect from 23:00-04:00 but is extended by one hour to 22:00-04:00 in metropolitan areas.
Officials are also implementing the following measures through July 26:
All commercial establishments are permitted to open 09:00-18:00 Monday-Saturday, and 09:00-15:00 on Sundays and public holidays. Restaurants may operate 06:00-20:00 daily.
Stores selling alcoholic beverages may operate 09:00-5:00 Monday-Saturday.
Religious services, conferences, meetings, and religious celebrations may occur at a maximum of 40 people in closed venues and 80 people in open spaces.
All social events remain prohibited throughout the country. Beaches are closed to sports, games, and parties. Theaters and cultures spaces will also shut down.
Around 30 percent of public and private employees should work remotely.
Citizens must book appointments at government offices in advance.
International Travel
International commercial flights are operating. All international arrivals in Mozambique must present a negative result from a COVID-19 PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before departure to Mozambique. Children under 11 years old are exempt from the rule. For travelers arriving in Mozambique via land border crossings, the negative test result remains valid for 14 days, permitting multiple entries or short-term return travel. Passengers who test positive upon or fail to provide a negative test result must self-quarantine for 14 days. Those who provide a negative test result are exempt from quarantine.
All restrictions are subject to amendment at short notice in response to government reviews. Security forces are deployed to ensure compliance.
Advice

Consider delaying traveling if experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, as they may prompt increased scrutiny and delays. Liaise with trusted contacts for further updates and guidance. Maintain contact with your diplomatic representation. Ensure contingency plans account for further disruptive measures or extensions of current restrictions.
