Fuel tanker union on indefinite strike in Bagmati Province, Nepal, as of June 14. Supply chain, ground transport disruptions possible.

Warning

Event

Members of the Nepal Petroleum Tanker Driver Union are continuing an indefinite strike in Bagmati Province as of June 14. Participants launched the action June 13, and say the strike will continue until authorities grant their demands to provide COVID-19 vaccines to fuel tanker drivers. Fuel delivery disruptions are ongoing in Bagmati Province, which occupies the Kathmandu Valley and nearby areas.

If the strike is prolonged, supply chain, ground transport, and business disruptions are possible. Striking drivers may stage protests during the work stoppage. Protesters could impose roadblocks in some areas. Clashes between police and strike supporters may occur, especially if police attempt to clear protester roadblocks.

Advice

Confirm ground transport arrangements and access to fuel supplies. Make allowances for possible supply chain disruptions. Avoid all protests as a precaution. Do not attempt to pass through any roadblocks, as demonstrators may attack vehicles.
