Officials in New Zealand will resume quarantine-free travel from Victoria, Australia, from 23:59 June 22. The government had previously required returning citizens, permanent residents, Australian residents in New Zealand, critical workers, and travelers with humanitarian exemptions to take a COVID-19 test within 72 hours of departure and only travel on so-called green flights. Individuals who visited designated locations of interest in Victoria, Queensland, and New South Wales at specific times cannot travel to New Zealand for two weeks from the date of exposure.
Commercial flight operations between New Zealand and Melbourne (MEL) are likely to normalize, but reduced flight volume remains possible in the coming days.
