PIT-CNT union calls for general strike in Uruguay, June 17. Disruptions to both public and private sector likely. Protests possible.

The Plenary Syndicates for Workers - National Convention of Workers (Plenario Intersindical de Trabajadores - Convencion Nacional de Trabajadores, PIT-CNT) has called for a nationwide general strike, June 17, in response to various socio-economic issues, including inequality and low wages. Bank workers affiliated with the AEBU union plan to stop work, June 17. Officials working at ports of entry are also likely to join the action, and associated processing disruptions may occur.
