Critical

Event

South Australia officials will enhance some statewide measures from 23:59 July 15 due to increased COVID-19 activity. Attendance at private gatherings will be limited to 150 people and follow the one person per two-square-meter (21 square feet) rule. Authorities will impose density limits at venues such as businesses, only permitting them to operate at 50-percent capacity. People must wear facemasks at high-risk locations such as correctional facilities and old age homes. Companies must continue to conduct contact tracing with few exceptions; the government has provided companies with QR codes for mandatory electronic contact tracing. Officials also encourage patrons to use the mySA GOV mobile application to check into establishments.

Domestic Border Controls
South Australia officials will enhance quarantine measures for travelers from high-risk areas of Victoria from 23:59 July 15. Authorities will require residents returning from Greater Melbourne, Geelong, or Bacchus Marsh to quarantine for 14 days. Residents arriving from other areas of Victoria are not required to quarantine but must receive COVID-19 tests on days one, five, and 13 after entering South Australia. Nonresidents arriving from Victoria may not enter. Officials continue to impose entry restrictions on travelers from the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), New South Wales (NSW), and Queensland. Authorities are banning most travelers from those areas; people seeking entry must apply for an exemption from SA Health. Essential travelers, returning South Australia residents, those relocating to South Australia, and individuals fleeing domestic violence may apply for exceptions, among others. All entrants must complete a Cross Border Travel Registration at least 7 days before entering the state. Upon arrival, entrants are required to quarantine for 14 days. Arrivals must also receive three COVID-19 tests and wear facemasks in public. Entrants who had already completed a 14 day quarantine in the ACT or Queensland must only self-quarantine until they receive a negative test result. Cargo transport workers are exempt from testing and self-quarantine requirements, provided they received a negative test result within seven days and continue to perform their duties while in South Australia. Officials may update or adjust measures in the coming days depending on case activity.

Quarantine Requirements
Authorities require all international arrivals to undertake a 14-day quarantine period and undergo multiple rounds of COVID-19 testing. Travelers who have been in New Zealand continuously for two weeks before arrival are exempt from quarantine and testing requirements. South Australia charges all required travelers, including Australian citizens and permanent residents, quarantine fees, payable after completion. Quarantine fees are AUD 3,000 for the first adult and AUD 1,000 for each additional adult or AUD 500 for children over three years old. Any international arrivals who purchased tickets before 12:00 ACST July 13, 2020, are exempt from payment.
