Denmark: Authorities maintaining COVID-19 related restrictions as of July 6 /update 37

Denmark maintaining COVID-19 measures as of July 6; business and international entry restrictions remain in effect.

Critical

Event

Authorities in Denmark are maintaining measures imposed to combat the spread of COVID-19 as of July 6. Officials classify all countries as either Green, Yellow, Orange, or Red based on the local epidemiological situation and apply differing entry restrictions based on the departure country's color designation and whether the traveler has been vaccinated or previously recovered from COVID-19. A full list of country color designations is available here.

Fully vaccinated travelers from green, yellow, and orange countries can enter Denmark for any reason and without restriction. The vaccine must be approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) with the last dose received no fewer than 14 days ago. The traveler must also be habitually resident of an EU or Schengen Area country, an Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) country, or a yellow third country. Vaccinated travelers from red countries must have a worthy reason to enter Denmark, present a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of boarding the aircraft, take a further test on arrival, and self-isolate for 10 days. The isolation period can be ended early following a negative test on day four of isolation or following a negative test on entry if the visit to a red country was 5-10 days ago.

Travelers who have previously recovered from COVID-19 arriving from green and yellow countries may enter Denmark without restriction. Evidence for this must be a positive PCR test taken between 14 days and 12 months prior to entry. Such travelers from orange countries must have a worthy purpose to enter Denmark. Travelers from red countries must have a worthy purpose to enter Denmark, and self-isolate for 10 days on arrival. The isolation period can be ended early following a negative test on day four of isolation or following a negative test on entry if the visit to a red country was between 5-10 days ago.

All permitted travelers who are not fully vaccinated and have not recovered from COVID-19 must be able to present a negative PCR test 72 hours before entry, or a negative antigen test 48 hours before entry. There are no additional requirements for such travelers from green countries. Travelers from yellow countries must also take a test on arrival, either at the airport or within 24 hours if arriving via land or sea. Such travelers from orange and red countries must also have a worthy purpose for entering Denmark, which they must present evidence for on arrival, and self-isolate for 10 days. The isolation period can be ended early following a negative test on day four of isolation or following a negative test on entry if the visit to a red country was between 5-10 days ago.

Domestic Restrictions
Authorities are maintaining certain domestic COVID-19 restrictions as of July 6. All businesses except for nightclubs and discotheques are allowed to reopen nationwide. Attendance limits for indoor gatherings are 250 persons. Many businesses and services may only be accessed by individuals with a Corona Passport. Corona passports are issued electronically or in paper form to individuals who meet one of the following three criteria:

  • Have tested negative for COVID-19 within the previous 96 hours (PCR) or 72 hours (antigen);

  • Have been vaccinated against COVID-19; or

  • Have recovered from COVID-19.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.

Advice

Follow all official instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Reconfirm all travel arrangements. Consider delaying traveling if experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, as they may prompt increased scrutiny and delays. Liaise with trusted contacts for further updates and guidance. Maintain contact with your diplomatic representation. Ensure contingency plans account for further disruptive measures or extensions of current restrictions. Reconsider and reconfirm nonemergency health appointments.
