The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) has called for a nationwide indefinite strike from Aug. 2 to denounce alleged deteriorating working conditions.

Associated protests by striking staff are possible in the coming days, which are likely to occur in the vicinity of educational, governmental, and other public buildings. Police will likely deploy to any protests that occur, resulting in localized disruptions; widespread violence is unlikely. However, the scale of the demonstrations and associated risk of violence will likely increase should students support the educational staff.
