The opposition Rally of the Opposition for Democracy in Madagascar (RMDM) political alliance will hold its national conference in Antananarivo, July 23-24. Several parties from across the country will attend the conference and plan to elect a leader for the opposition. Hundreds of people may attend the event. The precise gathering location is unclear; however, participants may gather at political party headquarters, including the I Love Madagascar (TIM) or New Forces for Madagascar (HVM) offices.

Authorities may deploy forces to monitor the events. Officials could seek to disrupt the event in light of the recent alleged assassination attempt against President Andry Rajoelina. Clashes are possible between security forces and RMDM members. Ground travel disruptions are possible near security force deployment or in the vicinity of the RMDM meeting.
