Event
Additional demonstrations are likely in cities across Florida through at least July 18 in solidarity with Cuban protesters. Widespread anti-government demonstrations first erupted in Cuba on July 11 to denounce the central government amid dual economic and health crises in the country. Solidarity demonstrations have been occurring in numerous locations across Florida, including Miami, Jacksonville, Orlando, and Tampa, since July 12. Demonstrators in Miami blocked traffic on the Palmetto Expressway in both directions on July 13; further such incidents remain possible at future rallies.
Authorities will likely deploy increased security near any such rallies that may materialize. Although most gatherings will remain largely peaceful, isolated confrontations or security disturbances cannot be completely ruled out. Localized transport and business disruptions possible near demonstration sites.
Advice
